Question Tuesday with New York Times Bestselling Author, Kiera Cass

For those who don't know, Kiera Cass is the debut author of The Selection series, which debuted on April 24, 2012. She's taken John Green's lead and hosted many "Question Tuesday" videos. As she's recently had her second child (it's a girl!), Kiera's lately been doing Question Tuesday on Twitter (masquerading as #QuestionMonday). Here are a few quick questions that Kiera has answered for us on Twitter about her journey as a writer.

When you got your agent, how much of the series did you already have written?
Just the 1st book. But I knew what the other 2 books would be. I gave her outlines to help pitch to editors.

How many rounds of edits did you have for The Selection in total?
Maybe 3 [rounds of edits] with my agent before sending it out, and 5 or so with my editor, including copyedits & such.

How long does it typically take you to write the first draft of a book?
Depends. The Siren was a month, The Selection broken up over several months, Book 2... maybe 2 months? So, at least 1. :)

When #TheSelection is over, will you need to find a new agent for a new series?
You usually keep the same agent unless they don't rep the new style you've written. I should be okay. :)
